Start, call, or send a message
Three ways in. Every one of them leads to the same thing: a call within one business day, where you hear what fits and what it costs before anything is signed.
It opens our secure client portal: one question, about five minutes, and nothing to pay.
Or call (443) 390-5488, Monday to Saturday, 9 to 6 Eastern, or send a message.
Not sure where you fit? Start with the same question the form asks.
These are the seven answers on the signup form, in the same words, with what each one leads to and what starts the price.
- I got a letter or notice from the IRS or my state Most notices have a response date, so tell Karigan the date on yours. The Roadmap then reads the notice against your actual IRS records and lays out the routes.
- I owe taxes I haven't been able to pay There are several routes to a balance you can't pay at once. The Roadmap finds the one your numbers support.
- I'm behind on filing my tax returns With no letter from the IRS, each late year is its own return, rebuilt from the IRS's wage and income records and priced per year. If the IRS has already written to you about them, they go into a Resolution Roadmap instead.
- I need this year's tax return done A return through the portal, with your transcripts pulled first so nothing the IRS already knows gets missed.
- I want to plan ahead so taxes never surprise me The Stewardship Plan: a year of projection, monitoring, your return, and a seat at the table before decisions, not after.
- I have a big money decision coming: retirement, an inheritance, selling something A Tax Strategy Session: one decision, your records pulled, a meeting with James, and a written plan within ten business days.
- Something else, or I'm not sure yet That's fine. Karigan calls within one business day, asks a few plain questions, and works out with you which kind of help fits, before anything is signed.
What happens after you reach out
Seven steps, the same for every family. You hear the price on the first call, and nobody reads your records until you've signed.
-
You answer one question
Seven answers, five minutes, no documents.
-
You get a call within one business day
A person, not a queue. You learn which kind of help fits and what the first step costs.
-
Your proposal and IRS authorization arrive the same day
Both in your portal. The proposal states the fee in full. Form 8821 lets us see your IRS account and nothing more. You also upload a photo ID, so we know the authorization is really yours.
-
You sign and pay
Nothing is charged before this. Resolution and the Plan are paid at signing; a return on its own, before filing. Full refund if you cancel before James begins.
-
Your authorization goes to the IRS
The same business day you sign. Nobody reads your records before you've signed.
-
Your records come in
Usually one to two weeks. Every delivery date after this counts from the day they arrive.
-
The work starts
A Resolution Roadmap within two weeks of records in hand; a Three-Year Review within ten days. Your portal shows where your file is, and you get a text when the work starts and when it's ready.
You always know exactly where your file is.
What Form 8821 does and does not do
Form 8821 is the IRS’s tax information authorization. When you sign it, the IRS lets GN see your account: what’s been filed, what’s owed, what’s been assessed, what the IRS has on record for your wages and income. That is what your first deliverable is built from, whichever kind of help you choose.
It does not let anyone act for you. It cannot sign anything, agree to anything, move money, or speak to the IRS on your behalf. In a resolution case, James also files Form 2848, which does let him represent you, and that one is explained on the proposal before you sign it. Each spouse signs their own authorization.
The authorization goes to the IRS the day your proposal is signed and paid, never before. The IRS usually takes one to two weeks to post it and release your transcripts. Every delivery promise after that is counted from the day your records arrive.
Before you reach out
What happens on the first call?
Karigan asks what’s going on, answers your questions, and tells you the next step and what it costs. If you’re ready, your proposal is in your portal the same day. If you’d like time to think, that’s fine too.
Do I need my documents before I sign up?
No. The form takes five minutes and asks for no documents. Most of what we need the IRS already has, and your authorization lets us pull it once you’ve signed.
Is anything charged before I sign?
No. You pay when you sign your proposal, and not before. Karigan tells you the price of the first step on the call, so the proposal in your portal holds no surprises. Nobody reads your IRS records until you’ve signed.
How do meetings happen?
By phone or video, at a time Karigan sets with you once you’ve signed. You get an invitation with the link and a reminder before it.
Can I just talk to James first?
Everyone’s first call is with Karigan, including friends of people James has helped. She listens, works out with you what fits, and tells you the price. Once you’ve signed, your meetings are with James, and his time goes to your file.
Someone sent me. Should I mention them?
Yes, please tell Karigan who. We like to know, and to thank them.
Is GN near me?
GN works by phone, video, and a secure portal, so where you live doesn’t change how we work together. There is nothing to drive to and almost nothing to mail.
