I'm behind on filing my tax returns

Unfiled years feel heavier every April they sit. The way out is simpler than it feels: each year is its own return, built from the records the IRS already has, with its price stated before we begin. Filing before the IRS files for you keeps your deductions on the return.

What happens next

  1. 1

    You start, or you call

Karigan calls you back within one business day and asks which years are open and whether the IRS has written to you about them.

  2. 2

    Your records come in

Your engagement letter and IRS authorization arrive in your portal. Once you've signed, we pull the IRS's wage and income records for every open year, so most of what you've lost doesn't have to be found.

  3. 3

    Each year, in order

Each year is priced on its own line in your engagement letter before we begin. A year the IRS already filed for you is priced higher, because we file the real return in its place. You pay before each return is filed.

If the IRS has already sent a bill or a levy notice for those years, the work begins with a Resolution Roadmap, $2,500, and the years go in it as line items.

Questions people ask

I don't have my old W-2s or 1099s.

You usually don’t need them. The IRS keeps a wage and income record for every year, and your authorization lets us pull it. That is what each return is built from.

Will I owe penalties?

Possibly, if tax was due. Some penalties can be removed when your earlier history was clean or there is a reasonable cause the IRS accepts. We look at that once the returns exist and the IRS has ruled.
